Ann Arbor, MI- In a game that emphasized the power of the Eastern Michigan Offense, the Eastern Michigan Eagles took the game right to the Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks and easily won 12-3. They were led by two hat tricks, one by Johnny Brown, scoring a goal in each of the three periods and Mike Koveleski. It was also another great evening for my sister, but more about her... later. Eastern Michigan in this game decided that it would be a lot better to come out with some aggression and attack. They didn't want to repeat the same slow start performance they showed one week ago. They came out with a fire and continued to put a lot of pressure on the Wisconsin-Whitewater starting goalie Sam Sebastian. Eastern Michigan produced several pretty goals, the puck seemed to be flying along the ice because Eastern would execute a lot of hard work in front of the net and pound the goals into the net. Wisconsin-Whitewater also had several moments in this game in which they could of gained a little bit of an advantage. Eastern Michigan, despite playing really well did make a few mistakes leaving the puck wide open for a Wisconsin Whitewater player to jump on the puck and score. This happened once, in which the Eastern Players played great defense and then the puck would just be lying in front of Goalie Sam Horton, and the UWW Player, Hanamen picked up the puck and just slapped it right into the net. Eastern, throughout this game was just flying across the ice. They were setting up several pretty plays, which will be demonstrated by our video gallery which should include at least 4 of the goals. Wisconsin-Whitewater's goals were also very pretty, but Wisconsin-Whitewater seemed more worried about the deflection and Sam Horton did a very nice job watching out for these. Wisconsin-Whitewater also did several good things. Their lengthy passes from one blue line to the next hit the player in stride 9 out of 10 times, giving the Wisconsin-Whitewater player a chance for a breakaway. Eastern Michigan's defense though saved them several times, by sacrificing their entire body to prevent the puck from going near Horton. It was wonderful play, and Wisconsin-Whitewater probably deserved to score a couple more goals by the way they were playing. I would
also just like to compliment the Wisconsin-Whitewater player #25 Justin
Hanaman. He seemed to play with a lot of grit, at one time holding off 3
EMU players to successfully get the puck down the net, and was clearly
one of UWW's best players. I just felt that he deserved some recognition
as well. Other
